Recently, I have actually been starting to enjoy the gym. I know, right? Me from 6 months ago is like WHAAAA?! But since I’ve started going 4-5 times a week, I’ve realised that my fitness wardrobe needs a serious overhaul. I literally have two outfits that I just have to wash after every visit and alternate- this is not acceptable. I finally forked out on some Nike Free 5.0 trainers in the Office sale a couple of weeks ago, and they have been one of my best ever investments (and a steal for only £45!) so I think I need to start as I mean to go on and bring the rest of my gym wardrobe up to date, starting with some fairly inexpensive basics to get the ball rolling. I’ve been trawling some of my favourite sports gear websites, and these are my favourite picks so far. View Full Post

Winter is usually the time when my skin goes absolutely ballistic and basically turns on me for a period of about 3 hellish months. I can’t remember the last winter when this didn’t happen- until now! I seem to have finally found a combination of products that really work for me and actually keep my skin, not only just hanging in there, but actually properly hydrated even through the colder weather. Madness, eh? View Full Post

I’ve never actually gotten round to writing a proper post about my journey with IBS, but it’s something I’ve struggled with for over 7 years now, and it’s been a pretty huge part of my life during this time even though I’ve tried my best not to let it. I’ve tried so many things to try and manage it, but nothing has ever worked and I had kind of resigned myself to the fact that it was just something I’d have to live with. However, before Christmas last year I heard through Twitter about Scarlett’s experience with the York Test, and I couldn’t believe I’d never heard about it before. I was having a pretty bad flare up around Christmas time, thanks to all the crap food I’d been eating, and was pretty desperate so me and George decided that it was time to make an investment in my health and get the test done. You know when life’s going well, you’re really happy at work and at home, but you’re also majorly tired and just in need of a break? Well, last weekend I had that feeling. Which is why I was so glad that I booked a weekend away in London for me and George during the Black Friday sales. Not only did we manage to get return train tickets for both of us from Leeds for £20, but I also got us a Travelodge room in Southwark, our favourite place to stay, for just over £100 for 2 nights (unheard of for a weekend in London!) I couldn’t wait to go back to one of my favourite cities to explore- let’s see what we got up to, shall we? View Full Post

Back in September, I made the decision to get my hair permed. My hair had been curly all my life, up until a couple of years ago when I wrote this post on my hair journey and shortly afterwards realised that my curls had actually gone, and they weren’t coming back. For about 6 months, I accepted that my hair would never be back to its former glory naturally, and took to straightening it and adding waves with my straighteners. But I felt like I had lost my identity- my curly hair has always been my trademark (I put it on the introduction to my CV, for God’s sake) and I knew I couldn’t carry on without it anymore.

So, I took the plunge and went for it! I’ve had my perm for long enough now to know how to take care of it, and I wanted to share my routine with anyone else thinking of getting a perm, anyone who has one, or any fellow curly-haired people out there who are looking for new products to try.
