Back in September, I made the decision to get my hair permed. My hair had been curly all my life, up until a couple of years ago when I wrote this post on my hair journey and shortly afterwards realised that my curls had actually gone, and they weren’t coming back. For about 6 months, I accepted that my hair would never be back to its former glory naturally, and took to straightening it and adding waves with my straighteners. But I felt like I had lost my identity- my curly hair has always been my trademark (I put it on the introduction to my CV, for God’s sake) and I knew I couldn’t carry on without it anymore.

So, I took the plunge and went for it! I’ve had my perm for long enough now to know how to take care of it, and I wanted to share my routine with anyone else thinking of getting a perm, anyone who has one, or any fellow curly-haired people out there who are looking for new products to try. Hello lovelies,

I haven’t done a beauty product review in so long, and although it’s a shame to return on a negative, I thought it’s about time I found a product I didn’t like! I am a very positive person most of the time, and tend to always try to see the good in people, products, anything really. I feel like, as a blogger, too much positivity can be a negative (ironic, I know) especially if you’re writing about a PR sample or a sponsored post, as people might be suspicious that you’re a teeny bit biased because you’ve been sucked in by the freebie hype.

Herbal Essences Clearly Naked Dry Shampoo is a product I forked out my own money for and although I really wanted to like it, I thought I’d tell you my thoughts on why in my opinion, it doesn’t live up to the hype.

The Busy Girl's Guide to Curly Hair

[image source- yes, that is me!]

Hi there lovelies!

Now, if there’s one thing I’ve learnt since becoming a blogger, it’s that there are so many different views and guides on how to do something a certain way- whether it’s how to apply mascara, how to gain blog traffic, or how to work out. I don’t believe there’s any right way of doing something that works for everyone, and I certainly think that’s the case when it comes to maintaining curly hair. I feel like mine is different to a lot of other peoples’ curly hair, but I have to accept that that’s okay.

Looking after curly hair when you’re busy and don’t have a lot of time on your hands (mostly to let it air-dry) is really difficult, and something I’ve found a real struggle since working full-time. Here you’ll find my tips on what I do to make the best of a bad situation when there just aren’t enough hours in the day to have perfect curls, and also what methods I’m planning on trying to get my hair back in lovely shoulder-tossing condition.

Hi there lovelies!

So, this is my first official post on! I’ll be making some changes around here over the next few months and I hope you like them- it feels so good to have bitten the bullet and bought my own domain! Today I am here to talk about some of the new range of Phil Smith Be Gorgeous hair products*, which were sent to me by the lovely people at Gorgeous PR. Let’s see how I got on taming my frizzy hair!

Since the summer, I have been stressing out about my hair. I couldn’t work out why my natural curls were dropping out, leaving me with straggly, lifeless hair that made me honestly quite depressed. It sounds silly, but it really does make you feel out of sorts when your hair isn’t behaving the way it normally does. I was convinced it was because, as the curls got less defined, I was relying on using my straighteners to curl the straighter bits. This was probably partly true, but I went and got a haircut from someone who knows what they’re doing at Toni & Guy in Harrogate, and she cut my layers short enough that my curls bounced back just in time for New York! Whilst in the midst of my hair ‘mare, I bought the entire John Frieda Frizz Ease Miraculous Recovery range, which I’ve been using for 2 months now, and I’m going to share my thoughts on it with you.
