FASHION | Gym Wear Wishlist: The Basics

Recently, I have actually been starting to enjoy the gym. I know, right? Me from 6 months ago is like WHAAAA?! But since I’ve started going 4-5 times a week, I’ve realised that my fitness wardrobe needs a serious overhaul. I literally have two outfits that I just have to wash after every visit and alternate- this is not acceptable. I finally forked out on some Nike Free 5.0 trainers in the Office sale a couple of weeks ago, and they have been one of my best ever investments (and a steal for only £45!) so I think I need to start as I mean to go on and bring the rest of my gym wardrobe up to date, starting with some fairly inexpensive basics to get the ball rolling. I’ve been trawling some of my favourite sports gear websites, and these are my favourite picks so far.

1. Pink Soda Sport Mesh Angle Fitness Tights | £30 JD Sports 2. Pink Soda Sport Panel Muscle Tank Top | £20 JD Sports 3. Pineapple Mesh Leggings | £26 Oasis 4. Pineapple Bloom Vest | £24 Oasis 5. Pineapple Bloom Capri Pant | £30 Oasis 6. Nike Pro Classic Sports Bra | £25 JD Sports 7. Nike Elastika Tank Top | £30 JD Sports 8. Nike Power Essentials Tights | £38 JD Sports

I love the Pink Soda range- the colour palette is just perfection! I think the two pieces from their range I’ve picked would go so well together, I’m dying to place an order for these. The angle detail and strip down the leg on the leggings is so gorgeous and flattering, and I’m a sucker for a nice wide, high waist band to stop me from wobbling all over the place- nobody needs to see that.

When I was browsing in Oasis a few weeks ago, I came across their new fitness collection with Pineapple and fell head over heels in love. That bloom print! Those mesh leggings! I love a good floral print, and combining this with gym wear is a huge winner for me- the downside is that my new trainers are purple and green so they won’t exactly go with this set…

And finally, you can’t go wrong with a good few Nike pieces. I saw the vest in Helen Anderson’s workout wear lookbook and it just looks so comfy and stylish at the same time- I really want a baggy vest to wear for the gym as at the moment I only really have t-shirts and I’m desperate for a change. I’ve heard great things about the classic Nike sports bra, but I am a little sceptical as tiny-boobs over here needs all the boost she can get in that department and it doesn’t seem very padded.

I’d also like to note that H&M have been killing it with their workout wear recently, and I’m dying to check it out in store as I don’t really trust buying cheaper workout gear online incase I don’t like the material (and incase you can see my pants through the leggings when squatting- nightmare). For more ridiculously expensive gear, Sweaty Betty is the stuff of dreams, and I hope that eventually I’ll be so invested in the gym that I’ll be willing to splash out on some more luxurious pieces.

Where are your favourite places to buy affordable, good quality workout gear?

Thanks for reading lovelies!
