So, it’s been a while since my last blog post and I’m desperate to get Christmassy stuff down to the bottom of my homepage where it belongs until next year. This post is about something exciting that I’ve been wanting to do for quite a while now (can you guess?)
Yes, that’s right- I’ve started my very own YouTube channel! I can’t quite believe it. I honestly thought ‘I’ll never be good enough, what’s the point?’ but since filming my first video last week, I’m already hooked. It’s like I’ve read countless times before- YouTube and blogging is not a competition- there is always room for more as people always want to see a fresh face and read or watch a new perspective on things.
You might also have noticed that I’ve had a blog redesign, thanks to the wonderful Pipdig! Seriously, I don’t know where I (or half the blogging community) would be without them. Their templates are so easy to upload and customise, and their customer support is second to none.
My first video is, of course, 25 Facts About Me. I was initially going to do a skincare routine or empties video, until I was talking to Kayleigh and she was like ‘Erm, how about a 25 Facts About Me seeing as no one knows anything about you.’ Good call. At the moment my set-up is about as frugal as it gets- filming in front of my bedroom window (praise the Lord for his natural lighting) with my iPhone piled high on top of a multitude of household objects until I can be bothered to pay the extortionate shipping on Amazon to get an iPhone adapter for my camera tripod.
I will, of course, be getting a more decent camera for filming eventually, but at the moment the investment hardly seems worth it when I’m so busy with uni work and unsure how long I’ll be able to keep up with filming whilst I’m getting on with that. Anyway, it’s not all about a fancy set-up and professional lighting- I’ve got my graphics background going for me so I know how to make a half-decent thumbnail and edit my videos so they look okay. And of course my winning personality *wink wink.*
It would mean the world to me if you could check out my first video here and subscribe to my channel- I promise you won’t regret it as I’ve got some exciting ideas for new videos and I’m hoping to eventually fight the fear and get into vlogging! If you have a YouTube channel, please leave me a link in the comments and I’ll take a look- I’m always looking for new people to follow.
