#LASHESLIVE Event with Nouveau Lashes

Hi everyone!

Last week, the lovely Claire from Leeds creative branding consultancy Propaganda (I already knew about them because I’m a design nerd haha) invited me to attend the #LASHESLIVE event with revolutionary lash brand Nouveau Lashes with some other lovely bloggers at the swanky Malmaison in Leeds! I’m so excited to tell you about how I learned to put on false eyelashes for the first time…

I have missed Leeds so much whilst working full-time in Harrogate, so any time I get to visit my favourite city it makes me very happy! I met up with Kayleigh and Rhianna outside the gorgeous Malmaison Hotel just along from Call Lane in Leeds, and we all admired the gorgeous foyer décor before being shown to the bar upstairs. Free food and drinks awaited us when we arrived, and we soon got stuck in to mini burgers, fried prawns and fish cakes, and marshmallow squares and chocolate cups for dessert!

Anyone who knows me knows that free food is the way to my heart, so they were already onto a winner with these delicious offerings! I met the lovely Alex and we had a chat- it was funny that I actually already followed her on Twitter- these things happen when you go to events! After we’d eaten, we were shown through to the room where all the glossy product boxes and goody bags were laid out, and we were given a short presentation from the lovely ladies of Nouveau Lashes, who told us all about the origins of the brand and why their strip lashes and treatments are different from the others.

It was really interesting to find out that the founders of the brand were actually looking for solutions for those who have no eyelashes through chemotherapy treatment and other causes of hair loss. They are still looking for a glue that is completely bare skin friendly, but the formula of their current glue is latex-free which was good news for me- my eyes are so sensitive, and I was convinced they were going to puff up even from applying false eyelashes!

After watching Corinne have some strip lashes applied by one of the lash technicians, and marvelling at how gorgeous they looked, it was time to apply them for ourselves! For some reason, I was really nervous, because I’ve only ever worn self-adhesive hideously cheap lashes before and they fell off in a second- I had no idea what I was doing either.

This was my finished result! I was absolutely thrilled to have such gorgeous, fluttery lashes. After consulting a chart, we had to try and guess which eye shape we had, and I guessed right- I have ‘hooded’ eyes. I chose to apply Natural Style 4 rather than full-on Glamour, and considering I was a newbie they are fairly easy to apply! We had a little tool for applying the glue, and the secret is to let it go slightly tacky, rather than applying when wet- the lashes stick so much better this way. Also, adding extra blobs of glue at each end help to stop the corners from lifting- et voila! The lovely lady who helped us was very patient with me, as I was fiddling around trying to make sure I didn’t stick the lashes down wrong!

Obviously me and Rhianna had to get our own lashes selfie- look at those eyes- hers looked gorgeous with liquid eyeliner too! I felt so glamorous I just wanted to stare at myself in the mirror the whole time once they were on- I wished I was going out somewhere afterwards.

Time for Kayleigh and Alex to have a go! Kayleigh was nervous like me, but her lashes looked amazing once they were on! We also got to watch the lovely Kellie having a LVL Enhance treatment on her lashes, which lifts your natural lashes by straightening them at the root- not curling them inwards like a traditional perm. Her lashes looked amazing afterwards- it would be perfect for a holiday treat so your lashes are low maintenance but still fabulous!

Sadly, then it was time to say goodbye! We had a lovely natter with Claire, and were the last ones to leave the event as we were chatting to all the lovely girls from Nouveau! We were given a goody bag each with TWO sets of strip lashes in, lash glue, and a lash serum which I can’t wait to start using. The strip lashes are only £6.99 each which is so reasonable, especially as if you look after them you can reuse them up to 6 times! They don’t have an unsightly black strip at the base like some- it’s thin, clear and totally natural-looking, and I couldn’t recommend them enough. Now I just need a special occasion to wear them to!

We obviously had to take a selfie to commemorate this lovely occasion- even if it was outside in the rain, hence the umbrella and my big fluffy hood- I look like a lion! Look how fabulous our lashes are- I felt so sassy walking to the train station afterwards *sassy girl emoji* I can’t wait for more events like this one, which was so well organised, so thanks again to Claire and the lovely Nouveau Lashes ladies- I’ll certainly be back, and can’t wait to wear my lashes again!

If you want to try them out for yourself, go to the Nouveau Lashes site and find out your eye shape with their online consultation service, then once you’ve picked some out use the code LASHESLIVE20 to get 20% off express strip lashes between now and 20th April! The best thing? You can use the code as many times as you like until then- so what are you waiting for? Once I’ve worn them again and used my lash serum, I’ll be doing a full review, so watch this space!
