Phil Smith Be Gorgeous Super Smooth Haircare Review

PhilSmithhair-1

Hi there lovelies!

So, this is my first official post on emmabydesign.com! I’ll be making some changes around here over the next few months and I hope you like them- it feels so good to have bitten the bullet and bought my own domain! Today I am here to talk about some of the new range of Phil Smith Be Gorgeous hair products*, which were sent to me by the lovely people at Gorgeous PR. Let’s see how I got on taming my frizzy hair!

When this arrived on my doorstep, it couldn’t have been more perfectly-timed, as I was just running out of shampoo and conditioner! I couldn’t believe I received two full-size bottles, but as they are only £5.50 for two at Sainsbury’s right now, these products wouldn’t exactly break the bank anyway. The Super Smooth range claims to tame unruly, frizzy hair with Keratin proteins, which is great for me as I have always had very frizzy hair. I was a bit concerned that it is for a ‘straight and polished’ look, as I usually have my hair naturally curly, but I thought if it could make my hair shinier and healthier-looking it would definitely be a bonus.

When first using the shampoo, I was a bit surprised at the consistency, as it is clear and quite jelly-like which I thought was unusual because products for frizzy hair are usually a creamy texture. I wasn’t sure about it to begin with, and wasn’t convinced I’d see results, but after a few weeks of use alongside the conditioner I have definitely seen an improvement in the shine of my hair. It is usually quite dull, but when I’m blow-drying my fringe I can see it catching the light like it has never done before!

I was just as apprehensive about the conditioner at first, as again I’m used to a heavier, creamier texture when using frizz-reducing products, and it felt too light to be effective. I couldn’t have been more wrong! I do tend to use quite a lot of it, probably because I feel like the less creamy consistency means that it doesn’t work as well, but I’m pretty sure this is just a mental thing! I apply the conditioner all over, as it doesn’t weigh my hair down or make it greasy, and my hair needs all-over nourishment- not just at the ends unfortunately- then comb it through with a wide-toothed comb and leave it in for a couple of minutes whilst I’m using my shower gel, washing my face, etc.

I straightened all my hair at the weekend (something I rarely do) to see the sleek results, and was very impressed. The photo is a bit dark, but I can assure you my hair has never been this smooth and shiny when it’s straight- and it’s desperately in need of a cut! I can safely say that I trust that the Phil Smith range of products deliver the desired results, and this is why I am looking at trying the Curly Locks range next, as I’m wanting to stop using heat on my hair and let my natural curls shine through!

There’s a massive range, including styling products, for every hair type on the Phil Smith website, and you can pick them up to try for yourself whilst doing your food shop at Sainsbury’s supermarkets in the UK! I genuinely want to try them all, especially the Curly Locks Curl Control Cream (it may have silicone in it- but I think my hair actually needs this, whether or not you like to use these types of products!)
