The Liebster Award

Hello everyone! So, this week I was very kindly nominated TWICE for the Liebster Blog Award, firstly by the lovely Megan and then by the wonderful Amanda! I am so grateful for both my nominations, but as I was nominated twice on the  same day I am going to combine the questions I was asked so I’m not rambling on too much. If you don’t know what the Liebster Award is, you basically nominate new bloggers to complete a set of questions you have come up with, and they write a post answering them and nominate more new bloggers! It’s a nice little idea to spread awareness of new bloggers and give them some support. I am very grateful! From Megan:

  • What is your favourite film?

The Parent Trap (with Lindsay Lohan). Although I have seen many amazing films since this one, I can’t call any of them favourites as much as this. When I was ill one time in primary school, I watched my VHS copy five times in one day! Eventually, the video actually broke and we had to replace it with a DVD- that’s how well-loved it was! I can go a year or so without watching it, but I always go back for some good old comfort viewing.

  • Did you make any New Years Resolutions?

Yes- to devote more time to my blog! So far, I have definitely kept to this, so I’m feeling pretty accomplished right now!

  • What do you like to do in your spare time?

At the moment, I don’t have a lot of spare time! But if I do, I love to cook, chill out with my gorgeous boyfriend with Netflix on and candles lit, and of course work on my blog! I also relentlessly scroll through Pinterest at work for inspiration procrastination- it is the source of all things lovely and it feeds my inner design nerd.

  • Favourite time of year?

Spring in the UK, mainly because summer never comes to much! When I’ve been really lucky on holiday in Somerset or Devon, and had gorgeously hot weather in the summer, I could definitely change my favour though. Spring is just so full of promise (the promise of not having to wear five layers when you leave the house… or stay in, for that matter).

  • Favourite scent?

Daisy by Marc Jacobs is my favourite perfume. Don’t even get me started on favourite overall scents- it’ll just make me hungry thinking of which food smells the best. Freshly baked bread, mmm… But seriously, Daisy is my signature scent, it was the first perfume George ever bought me for our first Christmas together 6 years ago, and I have loved it ever since. I got a brand new bottle for Christmas too, yay!

  • Where is your favourite place to be?

Either at home, cuddled up on the sofa, or on the Venetian waterfront at Doge’s Palace in the sun, sipping wine and watching the world go by. Newest favourite place is also Times Square in New York- specifically? Right in the centre, between the two pillars of screens. From Amanda:

  •  What would constitute a “perfect” day for you?

Right now,  a perfect day is spent curled up on the sofa doing absolutely nothing at all. I am so busy and stressed at the moment that I am desperately in need of this. However, when I’m feeling more relaxed, a perfect day would be going out early, eating breakfast, lunch and dinner out in York, London, or by the seaside, and walking around just enjoying the place. With the boyfriend, naturally.

  • For what in your life do you feel most grateful?

Definitely the support from my boyfriend, friends and family. I have been going through some tough times as of late, with working so much and having no free time, yet they are always there to pick me up and make me smile, with encouraging words (and wine). Also, our lovely flat. It may be freezing half the time and I moan about it, but it’s ours and I love it dearly.

  • What is the greatest accomplishment in your life?

Having my own children’s book published, which I wrote and illustrated. It may not have been that successful, but the whole process made me stronger as a person and having that opportunity was incredible. I have been incredibly blessed and lucky to have got onto my dream courses at college and university, and to get such good placements this year, but I have worked hard to get here and I’m definitely proud to be where I am.

  • Is there something that you’ve dreamed of doing for a long time?

I had dreamed of going to New York for my whole life, which I have now done! But I would love to go back. Having my own house with my boyfriend would be a dream come true, complete with a dog, which I have also wanted my whole life.

  • What do you value most in a friendship?

Loyalty, and trust. I am lucky to now have friends who encompass both of these things, but it took me a while to get there. In high school, I felt like I couldn’t trust anyone with anything I told them in confidence, and I also felt like they could drop me in a second to go off with someone else. Now, I have filtered out the nastiness and ugly traits, and have a beautiful set of friends who I may not see every week, but that doesn’t matter to us. Thank you again for nominating me girls! It’s been a great opportunity to introduce myself a bit more. I now nominate: Ami at Ami-Rose Lou at Naturally Beige Nina at Lunar Look I found it really difficult to find newer blogs to nominate, so I apologise if any of you have already been blogging for a while! I just picked blogs that I loved and felt should have more followers and awareness! My questions to you girls are:

  • Why did you start your blog?
  • What are your favourite kind of posts to write? (reviews, OOTD, etc)
  • If you could be the best in the world at one skill, what would it be?
  • What is your #1 couldn’t-live-without item?
  • If you could choose one clothes store to shop at for the rest of your life, what would it be?
  • Which animal do you relate to the most and why?
  • What is your favourite drugstore beauty brand?
  • What is your ultimate holiday destination (visited or dream)?

Hope you all enjoyed this post, it was lovely to receive some recognition from other bloggers and I look forward to reading your answers if any of my nominees decide to take part!

  • Love all the answers! Specifically, your greatest accomplishment. I actually have this as one of my goals for 2015: begin working on an illustrative book!
And hope you get some relax time soon from your busy schedule!

    • Thanks Amanda! I hope you manage to achieve your goal- working on a book is so rewarding :)

  • Aww congratulations on your nomination! I loved The Parent Trap so much as a kid, it was definitely one of my favs! I also have the same very serious pinterest condition, I’m thinking of writing a blog post, ‘How to waste 7 hours a day on Pinterest.’ hahaha :’) xo
