Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Crayons Review

20-01

Hi everyone! So, now the gloominess of Blue Monday is over (I know it’s all total rubbish, but I did actually feel horrendous yesterday- so tired and unmotivated!) I thought I’d do another beauty post on one of my new firm favourite products. My mum knows me too well, and bought me this amazing set of Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Crayons for Christmas. Last year, she got me a set of Fearne Cotton lip crayons, and since then I’ve been obsessed with this easy-to-use make up trend.

I had never tried Soap & Glory’s make up range before, but I’ve always lusted after it because of the gorgeous packaging! Their body care products are amazing and my mum is a huge fan, but I rarely buy myself body creams and things so I usually just admire the packaging and the smell! When I opened these on Christmas day, I wasn’t exactly in the mood to try out new make up when I felt so ill, so I tried a quick slick of the darkest colour but didn’t really pay much attention. Now, I usually wear one of these either on its own or over my L’Oreal Paris Color Riche lipstick in their exclusive red from Blake Lively (it is GORGEOUS- review to come) every day- I can’t get enough! They aren’t what I initially expected, which was more of a pigmented colour, but they’ve turned out to be just what I need. I wear them on their own for a more subtle colour most days, as I don’t always feel like wearing full-on colour for work, but they give a lovely glossy finish to any matt lipstick and I think it helps enhance the colour.

My favourites are the plum shade and the coral, as the medium pink is quite pale and doesn’t give a lot of colour. What is great about these is that, once the gloss has faded, they leave a little tint of colour behind so you can layer them up throughout the day for a more intense colour. Although they don’t sell the set anymore in Boots as it was a Christmas special, the crayons can be bought separately from the normal make up range here and you can get a second 1/2 price at the moment! They’re not exactly the same name, but I’m assuming they altered them slightly for the gift set. The colours that seem to be similar to those from the set are Raplumsel, Bashfull and Fuchsia-Ristic- I would highly recommend Raplumsel as I seem to be wearing it every day at the moment!

I love gloss crayons in general, and after receiving a Clinique Chubby Stick in Super Strawberry as a free magazine gift I was hooked. Although the Clinique ones are amazing and do give a slightly more pigmented colour, the price tag is not so friendly so I would recommend going for these cheaper alternatives! Revlon’s ColorBurst crayons are also fantastic- I have the matt one in Audacious and the colour is super-pigmented and smooth.

Have you ever tried a lip gloss crayon? Do you prefer them to lipstick? Have you ever tried Soap & Glory’s make up? Let me know!
